Who we are
GIANT is a Nairobi-based B2B trade platform connecting professional buyers in Kenya and East Africa with furniture, homeware and general merchandise supply. In this notice, “GIANT”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of this website and the team responsible for deciding how enquiry data is used.
We collect only the information needed to understand and respond to a business request. We do not sell personal contact information.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Company or business name, business type and your role or contact name.
- Phone number, WhatsApp number, email address and other contact details you choose to provide.
- Products, quantities, delivery location, specifications, messages and quotation requirements.
- Records of emails, calls, WhatsApp conversations and other correspondence with our team.
- Transaction, delivery and business records if an enquiry progresses to a quotation or order.
Information collected when you use the website
Our hosting and security providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, requested pages, timestamps and security logs. This information is used to deliver the website, maintain reliability and protect it from abuse.
If you create a quotation list on the product pages, the selected product references may be stored temporarily in your browser’s local storage so the list remains available as you move between pages. You can remove it by clearing the list or your browser data.
How we use personal data
- Respond to enquiries and provide catalogues, quotations and product availability information.
- Understand specifications, minimum order quantities, delivery requirements and sourcing needs.
- Coordinate suppliers, logistics, order fulfilment and customer support where requested.
- Maintain business, accounting and communication records.
- Protect our website, customers and business from fraud, misuse and security threats.
- Comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
- Improve our product range, services and website based on aggregated enquiry trends.
We do not use website enquiry data to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated means.
Lawful bases for processing
Depending on the context, we process personal data because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, to perform a contract, to meet a legal obligation, or for our legitimate interests in operating and securing a B2B trade service. Where consent is the appropriate basis, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out lawfully.
How long we keep information
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. The period depends on whether an enquiry becomes an active quotation or order, the length of the business relationship, warranty or dispute requirements, and applicable accounting, tax and legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete, anonymise or securely dispose of it.
Security
We use reasonable organisational and technical measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. Access to enquiry records is limited to authorised users. No website or electronic transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This is a business-to-business website and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly request personal data from anyone under 18 through our quotation forms.
Your data protection rights
Subject to applicable law and any permitted exceptions, you may ask us to:
- Confirm whether we hold your personal data and provide access to it.
- Correct inaccurate, outdated or misleading information.
- Object to or request restriction of certain processing.
- Delete information that is no longer required or is processed unlawfully.
- Provide portable data where the right applies and it is technically possible.
- Withdraw consent or opt out of direct marketing at any time.
To protect your information, we may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
